On Saturday 20 July, in the Basilica Sanctuary of Santa Maria de finibus terrae, the closing of the diocesan inquiry into the cause of canonization of the Servant of God, Mother Teresa Lanfranco, vicar general of the nuns “Daughters of Santa Maria di Leuca” took place.
The solemn Eucharistic concelebration was presided over by Msgr. Vito Angiulli.
Now, the substantial documentation collected will be taken to the Vatican to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.
Mother Teresa Lanfranco, born Annunziata Addolorata in the world, was born in Gallipoli on March 24, 1920; she was baptized in the parish of San Francesco in Gallipoli on April 12, 1920.
At the age of 17 she met the servant of God Elisa Martinez, who asked her to share her founding ideal of consecration and apostolate in favor of the parish and the education of girls, under the protection of the Virgin Mary.
In 1938 in Miggiano, with other young women, they started the Pious Union of the Sisters of the Immaculate which in 1941, with the recognition of the Institute of Diocesan Law, took the name of nuns “Daughters of St. Mary of Leuca”, in honor of the greatest Marian Shrine of Salento.
Mother Teresa, from the first moment, became the most faithful disciple and confidante of the foundress.SAM 5173 2
